Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM PHYSICAL THERAPY?

Physical therapists are highly educated medical professionals who assist patients in reducing pain, restoring mobility and movement, and preventing further functional disability, in many cases, helping patients avoid expensive surgery. Physical therapy often helps patients reduce the need for long term use of prescription medications and their side effects.

On your initial visit, your physical therapist will perform a thorough evaluation on your pain level, mobility loss, movement dysfunctions, and functional limitations. You are expected to be moving around during the examination. Once the evaluation is finished, your physical therapist will provide you a diagnosis, prognosis, and a customized treatment plan based on the exam findings and your personal functional goals (which will be discussed between you and your physical therapist).

Each physical therapy session onward will consist of various techniques that your physical therapist deems appropriate in treating your areas of deficits, eventually meeting your functional goals. Techniques range from use of modalities, manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, neuromuscular re-education, postural training. A home exercise program will be provided to assist in your recovery.

DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S PRESCRIPTION BEFORE SEEING A PHYSICAL THERAPIST?

The answer is “No!” New York State law allows “direct access” for patients seeking treatment from a physical therapist without a referral from a physician, nurse practitioner, podiatrist, or dentist. A physical therapist is qualified to evaluate and treat up to 10 visits or 30 days (whichever comes first). If further therapy sessions are needed, you can obtain a prescription from your physician. Recommendations will be provided upon request and can be discussed with your physical therapist.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE? IF NOT, HOW MUCH DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION COST?

We are an out-of-network provider and we take most major insurance companies. We are also a non-participating provider with Medicare or Medicaid. We will gladly check your insurance benefits if you are uncertain prior to your initial appointment to determine a billing arrangement based on your coverage.

If you do not have out of network benefits, our cash pay rates for our services are as follows:

Physical Therapy Initial Evaluation (1 hour): $250

Follow-up Visits (45 min): $175

DO YOU OFFER CONCIERGE SERVICES? IF YES, HOW DOES IT WORK?

YES, we are proud to provide concierge physical therapy services to those who prefer this convenience. Our physical therapist has the ability to travel to your preferred location whether it be your home, gym, or office with all the necessary equipment and tools. Our concierge services are of the same quality whether it be in-office or at the location of your choice. CYNC Physical Therapy & Wellness is committed to giving our patients the utmost care. If you’re serious about your health, we are too.

(Please Note: Additional costs may incur for concierge services depending on your insurance carrier, deductible, co-insurance, and location. If you have any questions, please inquire through email, phone, or insurance verification form.)

HOW LONG IS EACH PHYSICAL THERAPY SESSION AND WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Initial evaluations are approximately 1 hour and every physical therapy session thereafter is 45 minutes. Each session is one-on-one and individualized, such that it caters accordingly to your treatment plan and goals. You should expect each session to be interactive and varied, so wearing comfortable clothing is highly recommended.
